CUSTOMER CARE TEAM LEADER

Sydney Dogs and Cats Home is a not-for-profit, community focussed animal care facility whose mission is to provide high quality support services both for in-need companion animals and the people who care for them. The position of Customer Care Team Leader presents a great opportunity to make a difference in the world of companion animal welfare. Sydney Dogs and Cats Home understands that the best way to improve the welfare of the animals in our community is to support the people who care for them; this role will have a strong focus on the human-animal bond and will combine high quality customer care with best practice animal care.

The role is flexible and dynamic and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to help grow this already highly regarded animal welfare organisation. The possibilities are endless in the number of animals, and their humans, that we can assist.

The role will include:

-Responsibility for implementing and maintaining high quality customer service and administrative protocols and procedures

-Training and supervision of customer service and front-of-house administrative staff

-Maintaining a high level of knowledge regarding legislation relevant to impounding and companion animal welfare

-Working closely with other teams to ensure best outcomes for all SDCH human and animal clients

-Leading the customer service team to:

  • Respond to animal care enquiries from members of the community and problem solve to provide high level service for each case
  • Maintain high level of knowledge regarding legislation relevant to impounding and companion animal welfare
  • Ensure all administrative tasks are performed efficiently and with attention to detail
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding stray and missing animal protocols and legislative considerations
  • Provide high quality counselling and information to members of the public on animal care issues including adoption, reclaim and surrender of animals
  • Participate in community education programs, student and volunteer training and animal welfare events
  • Maintain a high level of animal welfare and animal care knowledge and contribute to aspects of daily animal care within the clinic and shelter
  • Provide preventative medical care of animals including vaccination, microchipping and preventive treatments, and assist the veterinary staff
  • Participate in animal behaviour modification and training, both for shelter and client animals

-Contribute to the ongoing development of all customer, client and animal aspects of the current CRM system

-Coordinate accounts and invoicing including council clients, adoption partners and retail inventory suppliers. Ensure all money handling and financial transactions are managed securely and appropriately.

-Coordinate the non-veterinary retail aspect of the shelter including inventory management, expansion of relevant retail opportunities for clients, promotion of retail and fundraising opportunities to clients

The successful applicant will have:

-Excellent customer service skills

-A passion for companion animal welfare

-Compassion and empathy for humans and animals in need

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-A desire to teach and support others within the animal welfare industry

-An understanding of administrative tasks and attention to detail

-A positive outlook and willingness to be involved in all aspects of the organisation

-The ability to work closely with a team as well as autonomously

-A current NSW driver’s license and their own vehicle

A recognised qualification in animal studies, animal behaviour, veterinary nursing, social studies or other relevant area and/or experience working in the animal welfare or community welfareindustries will be highly regarded.

Veterinary Nurse

The position of Veterinary Nurse presents a great opportunity for an experienced veterinary nurse looking to make a difference in the world of companion animal welfare.  Sydney Dogs and Cats Home understands that the best way to improve the welfare of the animals in our community is to support the people who care for them; this role will have a strong focus on the human-animal bond and will combine high quality customer care with best practice animal care.

The successful applicant will have:

-           A relevant veterinary nursing qualification and at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience

-           A passion for companion animal welfare

-           Compassion and empathy for humans and animals in need

-           Excellent customer service skills

-           Strong written and verbal communication skills

-           A positive outlook and willingness to be involved in all aspects of the organisation

-           The ability to work closely as a team as well as autonomously

-           Experience working in the animal welfare and/or community welfare industries will be highly regarded
