About This Pet
  1. Every pet deserves a name. If you don’t know the pet’s name, make one up! It can be something simple and sweet like ‘Fluffy’, or get creative and have some fun with it. A name helps potential adopters connect with the pet.

  2. The ‘Best Feature’ is a short phrase (25 characters or less) that summarises a positive feature or characteristic that will help the pet stand out - for example “Good with kids” or “I’m cat-friendly!” or “I love the car” etc. This appears below the pet’s name in the search results, and on the pet’s profile page.

  3. 3338 characters remaining

Time to make your pet shine online! Let potential adopters know what makes this pet so special by focusing on its positive qualities, and what this pet will bring to its lucky new family. Check out How to write a great pet profile for more tips and our Pet Listing Rules for more info.

  6. Choose Date

To enter the pet’s approximate age, select the number of years, months and weeks. Or, if you know the pet’s exact birth date, click on the calendar icon and select the pet’s date of birth.
*Please note, selecting years, months and weeks may not immediately display the exact age entered.

  7. Pets marked as ‘senior’ will still appear in the general ‘adult’ search results, but can also be searched for using the senior pet search option.

  8. Need more information? read more about cat intake categories.

  9. Community cats are unowned cats that live in the community. They may be friendly, timid or difficult to handle. They may have been born and lived in the community (never being owned) or may be lost or stray pets.

Cats that are given up by their current owner or a representative of the owner. These cats may or may not be microchipped or registered, but the person bringing them in considers themselves the owner. This includes breeders, family members of the owner, free from Gumtree etc.

Cat coming from a Council pound facility or a pound provider. The cat’s origin may be community cat or owner surrender etc, but they have come into your organisation’s care directly from a council impound service.

The cat has previously been cared for by a major shelter who offer care and adoption services. The shelter may transfer the cat to your group for additional adoption support, but this happens irregularly and is not a direct result of the shelter being a pound provider.

    Other sources
Transfer from vet/other rescue group: Please select where the cat initially came from (eg. community cat, owner surrender).

Medical

All listed pets must be vet checked and up to date with vaccinations, flea and worming treatment at the point of adoption.

  1. All listed cats and dogs must be desexed prior to being adopted, unless granted an exemption in writing by PetRescue. Please contact PetRescue should you need to request an exemption.

    1. Please note: It is a legal requirement to include the microchip number of any cat or dog listed for adoption or sale in Victoria. Any listings without this required information will be removed and your group's PetRescue membership may be suspended.

  2. 3723 characters remaining
  3. Mention any medical issues this pet has, for example heart murmur, allergies, luxating patellas, any ongoing medications that may be required.

Adoption details
  1. Carlton, NSW, 2218
  2. The postcode will not be displayed on the listing. It is used by our postcode search tool to narrow search results for pet seekers who choose the postcode search option.

  3. Please note: It is a legal requirement to include the breeder identification number/supply number for any puppy born on or after 26 May 2017 and listed for adoption in Queensland. Any listings without this required information will be removed and your group's PetRescue membership may be suspended. Read more about this.

  4. These options allow you to ‘exclude’ pets from certain searches - for example, if you have a pet that’s marked as not suitable for kids under five, this pet will not appear in public searches made by those actively searching for a pet suitable for homes with a child under five. Read more about this.

  6. Adopting a pet is an exciting and emotional time for the thousands of pet seekers who come to PetRescue.com.au eager to do the right thing. Put out the welcome mat for potential adopters, rather than presenting the adoption process as a series of hoops to jump through. It goes a long way towards making sure people choose adoption as the first option, rather than turning away and getting a pet from a non-rescue source such as a puppy farm, pet shop or backyard breeder.
