At Sydney Dogs & Cats Home we are always grateful for donations of any kind, but of course monetary donations allow us to do just that bit more for the animals in our care.

Our First Major Fundraiser

This fabulous event held in June 2005 was held specifically to raise money to renovate our Night Kennels which were nothing more than concrete shoe boxes. All sizes of dogs were fitted into these cages.

The project to renovate these kennels was major! The rooms were totally stripped, new concrete floors were poured, new plumbing and drainage was installed, there was an electrical overhaul, walls were rendered, new doorways cut, the latest ventilation system installed, wall lining and, of course, the best cages possible.

Our Second Major Fundraiser

Another fabulous evening and this time to raise money to help our cats. Our outdoor cattery was no more than a “Lean-To” but at least it gave the cats a chance to be outdoor in the fresh air.

Renovations are now complete to both the new outdoor and indoor catteries. The old outdoor cattery was demolished to make way for the new enclosure.

The indoor cattery was small with no window for natural light or fresh air and the cages were old and in bad condition.

With the money raised we were able create a whole new room with purpose built state-of-the-art cages, natural light and fresh air. This new room can house up to 20 cats.

The cats are much happier now during their stay with us – well, as happy as they can be!

Approximately 2,000 cats pass through our doors each year and, like all animal welfare groups, our facilities are always stretched to maximum capacity.
